Abstract
Novel macrocyclic oligothiophenes-diynes and corresponding fully alpha -con jugated macrocyclic oligothiophenes with cavieties up to 3 nm have been syn thesized. The intramolecular oxidative coupling of alpha,alpha'-difunctiona lized-diynes under pseudo high-dilution conditions preferentially led to th e cyclotrimers and cyclotetramers and subsequently transformed by sulfide a nions to the novel class of alpha -cyclo[n]thiophenes.
