The use of sulfinyl groups as thermally eliminable groups in precursor rout
es towards conjugated systems, like OC1C10-PPV, is evaluated by different t
echniques: Thermal Gravimetric Analysis, Direct Insert Probe Mass Spectrosc
opy and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. The process of conversion
can be divided into three stages: evaporation of water associated with the
hygroscopic sulfinyl groups, elimination of the sulfinyl groups and finally
evaporation of the elimination products.
