The results of ESR spectro-electrochemical studies as well as of in situ co
nductivity measurements performed on poly[(2,5-thienylidene)-1,3,4,6-tetrat
hiapentalene] (polyDTTTP); 1] are presented. The electrochemical oxidation
of 1 occurs in two reversible steps at about 0.59 and 1.05 V vs SCE, respec
tively, which evidence the presence of a polaron/bipolaron system. The in s
itu electrical conductivity reaches its maximum value of 10(-2) Scm(-1) at
an applied potential of about 0.6 V vs SCE.
