Abstract
We have investigated the photophysics of hetero-aromatic polymers containin g heavy atoms. Our aim was to investigate the effect a heavy atom has on th e intersystem crossing rates of polymers. The triplet state lifetimes were found for all polymers studied. An increase in the triplet formation rate w ill in general reduce the fluorescent yield in turn reducing the polymers f luorescence efficiency.
