The novel optical properties of a composite film of conducting polymer and
acrylate polymer containing photochromic azo-substituent have been studied.
The formation of holographic surface relief grating (SRG) using two interf
ering beams of a low power laser light has been confirmed in the composite
systems. An anomalous angular dependence of photoluminescence (PL) from the
composite film having SRG on it has also been observed. Two-dimensional we
ll-aligned surface relief structure has been realized by subsequent irradia
tion of two interfered light beams on the same surface, which has a potenti
al for the novel optical and optoelectronic devices such as a photonic band
gap devices.
