Abstract
Biological membranes are composed of a complex mixture of lipids and protei
ns, and the membrane lipids support several key biophysical functions, in a
ddition to their obvious structural role. Recent results from X-ray crystal
lography are shedding new light on the precise molecular details of the pro
tein-lipid interface.
