Abstract
In the infrared spectra of slightly deuterated samples of ammonium dia quatetrachloromanganate(II) recorded in the temperature range 293 to 2 58 K the appearance of the O-D stretching bands undergoes a sudden cha nge between 273 K and 268 K while no such change is observed for the N -D stretching band. This is a clear indication that a phase transition involving mainly the water molecules is taking place in the above-men tioned temperature region. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
