E. Martinez et al., LASER-INDUCED FLUORESCENCE FROM SELECTED EXCITED-STATES OF THE CS2 MOLECULE, Journal of molecular structure, 408, 1997, pp. 553-556
Gas-phase samples pf CS2 exhibit a richly structured absorption spectr
um in the near-ultraviolet region extending from roughly 2900 to 3800
Angstrom. In this context, the fluorescence of the CS2 molecule was ex
cited by a dye laser pumped by a Nd-YAG laser in the spectral interval
2800-3380 Angstrom. From the analysis of the fluorescence emission de
cay of the CS2 molecule, two different processes were observed as the
excitation wavelength was tuned from 2800 to 3380 Angstrom. Collision-
free radiative lifetimes were determined and values for quenching rate
constants in the range k(Q) approximate to (0.8 +/- 0.3) x 10(-10) -(
3.6 +/- 0.7) x 10(-10) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) in the spectral region
studied were obtained. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
