Abstract
Innovations in sugarbeet production are initiated and promoted by governmen t institutions and the sugar economy as a whole. Results of basic and adapt ed research are put into practice by extension services. Official services and those of the sugar economy together develop advisory strategies and pro gramme on a regional basis. Jointly headed organizations of the sugar econo my and beet growers associations in the north, south and west regions coord inate the extension services. Field trials are carried out by nine working groups. Items and methods of field trials are planned and evaluated by the Coordination Board at the Institute for Sugar Beet Research.
