A chemically bonded dispersant was prepared by reaction of a titanium alkox
ide with a long- chain carboxylic acid, and its dispersion in the PZN - PZT
slurry was investigated through sediment test and FT - IR technique. The r
esults show that the dispersant exhibited a good dispersion in PZN - PZT sl
urry, The dispersant concentration required to produce stable dispersions i
n nonaqueous media corresponded to the monomolecular layer coverage onto th
e PZN - PZT particle surface. The dispersant adsorbed firmly onto the PZN -
PZT particles by a strongly chemical bond formed through reaction of alkox
y groups on the dispersant molecule with surface hydroxyl of the PZN - PZT
powder.
