Based on the basic principles of biomineralization, three types of CaCO3/po
lymer composites with different contents of polymers can be synthesized thr
ough biomimetic synthesis under dynamic conditions. In the present work, po
lyethylene glycol, polyvinyl alcohol, hydroxyethyl cellulose are used as or
ganic matrices. These synthesized composites, which have special microstruc
ture and morphology and certain orientation, are very similar to the biomin
erals that are formed in the living organisms through biomineralization. Th
ese results are very important to the synthesis of the calcium carbonate bi
omaterials with excellent properties and functions.
