A description of some fossil gymnospermous wood fragments from the La Temer
a Formation at the Quebrada Fl Carbon locality, northern Chile, is presente
d herein. One of the pieces of wood has a lobulate pith, primary xylem and
secondary xylem with marked growth rings and is assigned to Lobatoxylon kam
thiensis (Prasad) n. comb. The genus Lobatoxylon has been used instead of T
rigonomyelon which is considered invalid. Only secondary xylem has been pre
served in the second specimen, which is assigned to Araucarioxylon semibise
riatum Pant and Singh. Both taxa are reported from Chile for the first time
