Abstract
This paper presents the 'classically exact' theoretical development of the axial and torsional receptances for a tapered shaft with a circul ar cross section. The developed axial receptances for a tapered shaft are then used to predict the natural frequency of a test specimen and the predictions are experimentally verified.
