Iron deficiency induced decrease in the rate of whole electron transport ch
ain in chloroplasts of pea (Pisum sativum L.). Such reduction was mainly du
e to the loss of photosystem (PS) 2 activity. The same result was obtained
when the ratio of variable to maximum chlorophyll fluorescence (F-v/F-m) wa
s evaluated. The loss in PS 2 activity was primarily due to a loss of 33, 2
3 and 17 kDa polypeptides. In contrast, iron deficiency induced the synthes
is of 28 and 29 kDa polypeptides.
