Sl. Li et al., Three-dimensional crustal structure of the capital area obtained by a joint inversion of DSS data from multiple profiles, CH J GEO-CH, 44(3), 2001, pp. 360
In order to carry out an unified analysis and interpretation of the 2-D dat
a from multiple profiles, constraints at the intersecting points of the pro
files are taken into account. A solution of simultaneous equations with int
egrated data from all the profiles is accomplished by constructing a unifie
d matrix of partial derivatives. The method is used to reprocess and reinte
rpret data from 6 wide-angle reflection/refraction DSS profiles conducted i
n the Capital Area by the Research Center of Exploration Geophysics, China
Seismological Bureau. As a result, 3-D velocity structures and tectonic cha
racteristics of the crust in this area are obtained On this basis, and in t
he light of results by other geophysical techniques, the spatial scope of 4
crustal low velocity layers (bodies) and fault strikes are determined.
