Phase and aggregation behaviour of alkylglycosides

Alkylmonoglucopyranosides are the main compounds of technical alkylpoygluco sides. New contributions to crystallisation and thermotropic properties, ph ase and aggregation behaviour are presented because of their central intere st for understanding the technical products. Synchrotron and neutron scatte ring give a detailed insight into the micelle formation of pure compounds a nd to the sphere-rod transition as a function of added long chain alcohols. The phase behaviour of the surfactant systems and microemulsions is heavil y influenced by traces of ionic surfactants. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
