Abstract
Several models have successfully explained V(z) curves of flat surface materials obtained by acoustic microscopes. Using the acoustic ray mo del, the authors derive expressions of periods and Rayleigh velocities for samples having an oblique upper surface. It is shown that both pa rameters vary with inclination angles. A universal curve for such vari ations, valid for all materials, is proposed and can be used to obtain the exact parameter values.
