A field study was conducted on mixed/intercropping of greengram (Phaseolus
radiatus L.) with groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) at the O.U.A.T. Regional
Research Station, Chiplima, during rainy (kharif) season of 1995 to 1997. C
onventional method of mixed cropping of greengram with the local spreading-
type groundnut was more productive and remunerative-than sole groundnut, wi
th yield advantage of 48 % and monetary benefit of 54 %. Improved:variety i
ncreased the yield of groundnut by 24 % and the net return by 52 % over the
local variety. Intercropping of groundnut (improved variety) and greengram
in 6:2 row ratio proved most effective, with yield advantage of 41 % and m
onetary benefit of 72 % over sole groundnut, grown in the conventional meth
od.
