Abstract
A new defective ring-shaped polyoxomolybdate Na-28[(Mo112Mo28O427H14)-Mo-VI -O-V(H2O)(56)]. ca. 300H(2)O was synthesized from an acidified aqueous solu tion of Na2MoO4 . 2H(2)O with Na2S2O3 . 5H(2)O or NH2NH2 . 2HCl acting as r educing reagents. Its giant tire-like anion, which is formally based on the reported {Mo-154}-type ring with removal of seven {Mo-2}(2+) units at cert ain positions, is built up by fourteen {Mo-8} units fused with fourteen {Mo -1} units and seven {Mo-2}(2+) units.
