G. Marino et al., Temperature dependence of binary mixing properties for acetone, methanol, and linear aliphatic alkanes (C-6-C-8), J CHEM EN D, 46(3), 2001, pp. 728-734
In this work we analyze the temperature dependence of the speed of sound, d
ensity, and refractive index of binary mixtures of acetone, methanol, and l
inear aliphatic alkanes (hexane, heptane, or octane) at atmospheric pressur
e. From the experimental measurements of these physical properties, the cor
responding excess molar volumes, isentropic compressibility deviations, and
refractive index deviations were derived. A set of variable-degree polynom
ials have been fitted to the results. Despite the large excess molar volume
s obtained, they were satisfactorily correlated by a cubic equation of stat
e with simple combinatorial mixing rules.
