Abstract
The synthesis of a carboxylic acid (C8F17(CH2)(3))(2)CHCOOH 3 bearing two l ong branched perfluoroalkyl-alkyl chains is described. This acid is highly soluble in perfluorocarbons and is 3 useful ligand fur the preparation of t ransition metal complexes that are soluble in fluorinated media. This is il lustrated by the preparation of the manganese(II)- and cobalt(II)-carboxyla te: complexes, both of which are soluble in perfluorocarbons and are thus p otentially interesting starting materials for metal-catalyzed reactions und er fluorous biphasic procedures.
