Correction-factor analysis of solvent extraction in multipass membrane modules with recycle

The analysis of solvent extraction in multipass membrane modules with recyc le has been carried out by the correction-factor method, analogous to heat transfer in multipass heat exchangers. The theoretical predictions confirm pretty well with the experimental results. It is concluded that when the in crease in mass-transfer coefficient by applying the recycle effect can comp ensate for the decrease in the driving force of mass transfer, the membrane extractors with recycle operation are recommended to be employed.
