Abstract
This paper presents a numerical method for calculating the scattered field when a vertically polarized Gaussian beam is incident on a ? at or slightly rough conducting surface at a grazing angle and the refractive index of th e propagation medium has a profile which is not constant. The method is a s olution to the parabolic approximation of the full wave equation. The resul ts presented are taken for a linear and log-linear refractive index profile .
