The thermodynamic properties of aluminum-hydrogen solid solutions containin
g lattice vacancies have been calculated using a canonical ensemble approac
h and a Fermi-Dirac distribution to describe the distribution of H atoms be
tween vacancy-generated sites and 'normal' interstitial sites. The equilibr
ium vacancy concentration has been calculated as a function of temperature
and hydrogen concentration. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reser
