Abstract
One of the first parameters used for the control of state of the foetus was the estimation of foetal heart rate. Its real value is that the state of f oetus can be exactly indicated and evaluated. It is far less reliable for t he Indication of complicated parturition. Ultrasonic examination, biophysic al profile of foetus e.g. foetal movement, tone, estimation of foetal respi ratory movement are also effective methods for monitoring the actual state of foetus. However, these methods, used separately are not reliable and exa ct enough. Using ultrasonic examination the activity of foetus, the heart action and i ts environment can be examined, which is a valuable complement to the clini cal examination of pregnant mares. New methods may be developed with furthe r examination which ensure more accurate results. The aim is the developmen t of new methods which enable the perfect treatment of the diagnosed proble ms and improve the chance of neonatal survival.
