C. Cecchi-pestellini et L. Barletti, Radiative transfer in a stochastic universe - I. Observation-related statistics, NEW ASTRON, 6(3), 2001, pp. 151-162
The radiative transfer through an astronomical region populated by stochast
ic clumps is studied by means of functional analytical techniques. Random d
ensity fluctuations of the background medium are described by a finite numb
er of parameters. In the framework, each realization of the statistics corr
esponds to a possible configuration of a real clumpy region, as it is possi
ble to infer from observations. (C) 2001 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
