Abstract
A new type solar neutron detector has been developed and a few have been in stalled on several high mountains around the world. Till now, seven solar n eutron detectors have been operated for the observation of solar neutrons i n association with solar flares. For the purpose of calibrating the detecti on efficiency of this new type of solar neutron detector, we carried out an accelerator experiment at the Research Center for Nuclear Physics of Osaka University between February 1996 and June 1999. In this paper, we report t he detection efficiency obtained by the accelerator experiment and the resu lts are compared with Monte Carlo simulations. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B. V.
