Abstract
We have synthesized (FeCuII)-Cu-II(obbz). 5H(2)O (obbz = N, N'-oxamido bis( benzoato)) which exhibits a non-magnetic ground state, arising from antifer romagnetically coupled Fe2+Cu2+ pairs. Upon dehydration, we obtained FeCu(o bbz). 1H(2)O which is a soft ferromagnet below about 10K, but unlike MnCu(o bbz). 5H(2)O and [CoCu(obbz)(H2O)(4) . 2H(2)O it is not a sponge, that is i t cannot reabsorb water spontaneously under ambient conditions.
