A. Patane et al., Magnetotunnelling spectroscopy for probing the electron wave functions in self-assembled quantum dots, PHYSICA B, 298(1-4), 2001, pp. 254-259
We show how resonant magnetotunnelling can provide a non-invasive and power
ful method for mapping out the probability density of the quantum-confined
states in self-assembled quantum dots. By measuring the magnetic field depe
ndence of the intensity of the resonant tunnelling current through individu
al dots, we identify confined states in the dot displaying the elliptical s
ymmetry of the ground state and the characteristic lobes of the higher ener
gy states. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
