The in-plane motion of excitons (X) and negatively charged excitons (X-) in
a doped CdTe/CdMgTe quantum well has been measured at 4.2 K in magnetic fi
elds up to 12T, using spatially resolved photoluminescence (PL) spectroscop
y. The populations of X and X- have been found to be in local dynamical equ
ilibrium. The measured PL patterns in real space could therefore be describ
ed by considering free and mobile excitons in equilibrium with localised ch
arged excitons. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
