Abstract
In this paper we present results of experiments showing that the variation of local critical current in our multifilamentary Bi-2223/Ag tape is consid erably smaller than that in individual filaments extracted from the tape. A quasiperiodic variation of local critical current with a characteristic di stance of similar to1 mm was observed in individual filaments. An artificia l defect made in the tape influenced the electric field on the tape surface in the distance of about 0.6 mm from the edge of the defect. (C) 2001 Else vier Science B.V.
