Lm. Skibina et al., The effect of the epsilon-caprolactam concentration on the electrodeposition of nickel-polymer coatings, PROT MET R, 37(2), 2001, pp. 159-162
It is shown that an increase in epsilon -caprolactam concentration in sulfa
te nickel-plating baths enhances its adsorption on Ni cathode, which is fol
lowed by the formation of its complexes with nickel ions in the solution. T
he first process decelerates the electrode reaction, and the second one fac
ilitates it. In the interval of the maximum deceleration of the process, ni
ckel-polymer coatings with the greatest content of epsilon -caprolactam and
the highest surface conductivity, substantially exceeding that of pure met
al, are formed.
