A mathematical model of the electric field under starting conditions of ano
dic protection is considered. An empirical formula of the dependence of cur
rent density on the polarization value and potential growth rate is propose
d to describe anodic polarization curves. The numerical parameters in the f
ormula are determined from experimental data. In three- and two-dimensional
systems, the problem is solved by a boundary elements method. Presented ar
e the calculation results for the regime of starting the anodic protection
of a cylindrical steel container partly filled with a sulfuric acid solutio
n.
