Abstract
A comparison between magneto-impedance properties measured in magneto-stric tive nanocrystalline Fe-based melt-spun and glass-covered wires is presente d as a function of microstructure. Giant magneto-impedance response has bee n investigated in both low- and high-frequency regions for different therma l treatments. A strong correlation with the domain structure, affected by t he microstructure of the material, has been observed. Glass-covered wires t urn out to be characterised by higher GMI values at all the studied frequen cies with respect to rapidly solidified wires. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B. V. All rights reserved.
