Abstract
For the purpose of developing electrically conducting amorphous molecular m aterials, chemical doping of 2,5-bis{4-[bis(4-methylphenyl)amino]phenyl}thi ophene and 5,5 ' -bis {4-[bis(4-methylphenyl)amino]phenyl}-2,2 ' -bithiophe ne with iodine was carried out. The resulting iodine-doped solids were char acterized by electronic absorption, infrared absorption, electron spin reso nance, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The iodine-doped amorphou s molecular materials exhibited room temperature conductivities of 2 simila r to3 x 10(-5) Scm(-1).
