The mixed valence state formation in a metallic Langmuir film on the water
surface is reported. The mixing molecular system of BEDO-TTF (BO) and stear
ic acid (SA) forms a bilayer film, where a SA layer is lying on the BO laye
r, on the water surface. The polarization-modulated IR reflection absorptio
n spectroscopy (PM-IRRAS) reveals a metallic optical property in the BO lay
er described by Drude model. Hydrogen bonding (R-COOHOOC-R)(-) anions in th
e SA layer are suggested by the comparison of IR spectrum of carboxylic sal
t of BEDT-TTF.
