1,4-Benzooxazino[2,3-b]phenoxazines (N-H and N-Me derivatives) and their su
lphur analogues were synthesized. These electron-rich compounds afforded th
e charge transfer complexes or the radical ion salts when mixed with suitab
le electron accepters or when electrolyzed in the presence of suitable coun
ter ions: PF6-, I-3(-), ClO4-, respectively. The conductivity of these comp
lexes and salts were in the range between 10(-3) - 10(-8) Scm(-1).
