Abstract
Synthetic procedures have been developed to attach the nitric oxide releasi ng diazeniumdiolate functional groups [N(O)NO](-) to a carbohydrate unit. T hese glycosylated diazeniumdiolates exhibited significantly improved stabil ity as compared to their parent diazeniumdiolate salts, yet they could read ily release nitric oxide upon activation by glycosidases. Preliminary antit umor screen assay demonstrated that this class of compounds had antitumor a ctivity. (C) 2001 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
