Abstract
A linear approximation of the modified van der Waals-Storonkin equation is obtained, and the properties of the operators appearing in the approximate equation for multiphase multicomponent systems are studied. Generality of t he structure of the operators is demonstrated, which is determined by an in variant of a phase-separation region. Distillation-trajectory regions aroun d saddle heteroazeotropes are explored.
