Abstract
A method for controlling spatiotemporal chaos in coupled ordinary diff erential equations is presented. It is based on two ideas: stabilizati on of unstable periodic patterns embedded in spatiotemporal chaos, and perturbation of dynamical variables only at regular time intervals.
