The major 3-deoxyanthocyanin isolated from the fern Blechnum novae-zelandia
e was determined to be luteolinidin 5-O-beta -D-[3-O-beta -D-glucopyranosyl
-2-O-acetylglucopyranoside] and was found to co-occur with quercetin 3-O-be
ta -D-[6-O-caffeoylglucopyranoside], quercetin 3-O-beta -D-[6-O-caffeoylgal
actopyranoside] and kaempferol 3-O-beta -D-glucuronopyranoside. These pigme
nts were identified by using HPLC chromatography, NMR (1D, 2D) and electros
pray mass spectroscopy.
