Abstract
Reaction of [AuCl(tht)] (tht = tetrahydrothiophene) with dro-4',4'-dim ethyl-2'-oxazolinyl)thien-5-yllithium or dro-4',4'-dimethyl-2'-oxazoli nyl)thien-3-yllithium afforded thienyl dimeric and trimeric oligomers of gold(I). Protonation of these compounds as well as the stable monom ers obtained from [AU(C6F5)(tht)] or [AuCl(PPh3)] afforded unique dior ganocarbene complexes as well as nitrogen-donor compounds, the former being unusual divinylcarbene complexes. Reaction of 2-(2'-pyridyl)thie n-5-yllithium with [AuCl(PPh3)] produced, upon alkylation, organothioc arbene compounds. The molecular structure of the dimeric compound [Au{ C=C(C=NCMe2CH2O)SCH=CH}](2) shows a Au ... Au separation of 2.8450(6) Angstrom.
