Abstract
In summary, postprandial lipemia after a high-fat meal was not associated,v ith an impairment in endothelium-dependent, how-mediated vasodilation of th e brachial artery in young healthy women. These data are at variance with p revious findings in young healthy men,g and allow one to conclude that a st rong gender-related difference exists in the susceptibility to vascular eff ects of postprandial lipemia in young subjects. This gender difference may be 1 basic mechanism underlying the lower susceptibility to coronary heart disease events observed in premenopausal women than in age-matched men.
