In children, acute leukaemia can mimic several orthopaedic pathologies and
this variable presentation creates difficulties in achieving the correct di
agnosis. Four consecutive cases are reported, all of which initially presen
ted via the orthopaedic department, representing 17% of all new eases of le
ukaemia presenting to our hospital. This series is presented to highlight t
he need to place acute leukaemia on the list of differential diagnoses of a
cute joint pathology in children: the associated literature is reviewed.
