Abstract
Hydrolyzable tannins were found to be the active cytotoxic constituents of three creek Cytinus taxa: Cytinus ruber, Cytinus hypocistis subsp, hypocist is and Cytinus hypocistis subsp, orientalis. The cytotoxic activity was eva luated against a broad spectrum of cancer cell lines. The structure of the active compounds was investigated with NMR and electrospray-MS/MS technique s.
