A. Chan et al., RECN SOS GENE AND INDUCED PRECISE EXCISION OF TN10 IN ESCHERICHIA-COLI, Mutation research. Mutation research letters, 325(2-3), 1994, pp. 75-79
A mutant defective in the induced excision of Tn10 was isolated by dec
reased papillation on MacConkey-galactose prates with mitomycin C. The
mutation involved was characterized as recN by genetic mapping and co
mplementation. This mutant, as well as a previously characterized recN
mutant (recN262), showed a markedly decreased frequency of excision o
f Tn10 after treatment with UV or mitomycin C. These observations indi
cate that recN is involved in the induced excision of Tn10.
