Abstract
Accurate segregation of homologous chromosomes at the first meiotic divisio n requires the tight coordination of DNA replication, homologous recombinat ion and chromosome organization. Recent studies suggest that the initiation of meiotic recombination is mechanistically coupled to premeiotic DNA repl ication.
