Abstract
The morphological changes in the apex of strawberry (Fragaria x ananas sa) cv. Elsanta during flower initiation and early development were st udied by means of apical dissections and cryo-scanning electron micros copy. Characteristic stages of development were recorded from the earl iest discernible evidence of floral initiation until anthesis. The res ults are discussed in relation to previous studies of floral developme nt in strawberry.
