Some observations on performance-based and reliability-based seismic design of asymmetric building structures

In previous work by the second author and others, a framework for a reliabi lity-based, performance-based seismic design procedure was presented. That framework was based on static pushover analyses of two-dimensional models o f building structures. In this paper, some preliminary observations and res ults are presented from a study in which the framework is extended to be us ed with three-dimensional analysis models to explicitly account for the tor sional behavior of asymmetric building structures.
