This article summarizes papers presented and discussions held at the recent
seminar of the Czech Economic Association. The seminar was devoted to a mu
ch discussed issue within transitional economics the impact of corruption o
n long-term economic development. The seminar addressed the possible implic
ations of recent theoretical and empirical findings related to corruption a
nd transitional economies, including measures directed at reducing corrupti
on, and the specific features and implications of corruption within the ban
king sector.
